Support Wire Padded
Why isn’t my wireless connection working?
I just installed a 2wire gateway (2701HG-B) from At&T and was assured by the tech support guy that I would be able to unplug the ethernet chord that attatches it to my computer and connect to the internet sans wire. However, I can’t, and the “wireless” light on the gateway has not lit up at all. I know very little about computers (even my own) but I can tell you the following:
-I am running Windows XP
-I have a wireless card and have used it sucessfully in the past
-The internet connection through the 2wire is fine when I connect with the ethernet chord
Any help would be so appreciated!! I am incredibly frustrated and feel like an idiot reading through other posts about the 2wire online. I still consider “chord thingy” and “mouse pad” advanced computer terminology.
Thanks so much
Yes call support or connect your network cable and see if you can connect to an admin page. You can usually open a browser (once you are connected with the network cable) and type http://19.168.1.1 or http://192.168.0.1 or http://192.168.1.100
If it brings up a login box then you should be able to enter something like
login name : admin
password: password
or check the manual.
