Corsets Are Always Sexy
Here is a new twist on an old idea - sexy corsets. Until fairly recently this item of women's clothing would never have appeared next to the word "sexy." Corsets were anything but. Made with steel or bone strips, Victorian women wore these for one of two reasons - medical purposes or to appear to have the desired hourglass figure of the times. It accentuated the bust by pushing the breasts upward, helped the wearer to have more erect posture, and it widened the hips as well. The contraption was synched to the point of cutting off oxygen in order to reach the desired body size and shape. It is no wonder that women "had the vapors" and required their own piece of furniture - the fainting couch.
Men also wore Victorian corsets. They actually began the fashion for this item. But when women began wearing them as well, the men just wore them for "back pain." With the invention of elastics, they became available to a wider strata of consumers with women and men both donning the garment - secretly or not. Corsets of this construction faded in the 1920s and soon began their migration from underwear to outerwear. Today we see many examples of sexy corsets for outerwear in high fashion. The new corset has also made an appearance in many blockbuster movies exposing yet another generation to their appeal. They have lost their bone crushing support strips and suffocating stays. Luxurious satin and dainty laces have replaced these uncomfortable contraptions. They are also available with G-strings for a naughty ensemble!
These evolved items of clothing can be worn with jeans in casual settings, to events with a silky jacket, to gatherings where there is wine and cheese, and in the bedroom.
